    Default Crowton out at LSU?

does this change anyone's perception of Gary Crowten. It's changed mine. I hope we don't hire him after reading this. It seems he's only successful his first year as a head coach. I've heard nothing but good things about Crowten on this board but I don't know if he is right for us.

He is way down on my list.

    My list goes like this:
1st Tie: Mark Hudspeth or Gunter Brewer

Anyone else after this is 2nd lol.

Interesting read for sure. I remember reading this early during last season. His offense has a history of derailing after a quick start. One thing is for sure, I'll be shocked if he's not available after this season. Also, he's not really a go getter on the recruiting trail which is a major reason I don't want to see him land at UL. This program needs a fiery recruiter that is going to hit the road to sell his program throughout the southeast.

This is the blog I referenced a week or so ago when stating my opposition to Crowton. He starts off well but repeatedly seems to crash and burn afterwards. I just don't see his resume / track record as being that strong.

Initially his resume looked strong and like he could be a great hire for us but if you look more in depth at what he's done, he just doesn't seem like a good hire

Yes when yo look mainly at where he's been it doesn't seem too bad but when you actually look at his year by year record he usually has one really great year early in his tenure followed by mediocre to bad years thereafter. In fact if you take away the one great year at each of his coaching stops his record otherwise is about as good as Coach Bustle's at best and in some ways worse. At least coach bustle for the most part improved the team until he reached his 6-6 peak up until this year. Crowton's teams declined as time went on at each of his HC stops.

Interesting article. The more I think about Crowton the more I think maybe UL could do a little better. I won't be disappointed at all if he is hired, but his mediocre head coaching experiences at Tech and BYU worry me a little.

Have you seen what he has done with LSU's offense and quarterbacks? Crowton is a joke.

Crowton is a great hire - if you are an LSU fan.

And I think that sentiment would be used against him in recruiting throughout the state of Louisiana and beyond.

Deja Vu all over again. Remember the last LSU castoff we got. A guy by the name of Baldwin. At least then, we were able to negotiate a name change in the Legislature and they got rid of dead weight. If we take Crowton off their hands, then I want something big like new stadium or something.

Just read the article and what I think is that it is ridiculous to conclude whether Crowton is a good coach or not based on that one piece. It takes bits and pieces of a man's career...never looks at anything else such as injuries or personel available to him...then implies that he's only good for a year at a time.

I've decided that I am more reasoned than that...and will let the administration that will have all kinds of information available to them on ALL candidates make a determination as to who might be best to lead our program...PERIOD.
