Thread: Crowton out at LSU?

What's sad is that Crowton was running Les' offense. If anyone on that staff deserves a huge extension its Chavis. Without Chavis' defense, I doubt they could make it to a bowl with a 100+ ranked offense. I'm sure he makes good money, but if I was John Chavis, I would point a finger at Les and say.....without me.....your nothing. Just sayin.

So who guarantees the 240 million in bond money they have outstanding. The seal of the state of LA is on all of the contracts. THAT makes their FACILITIES state funded. BTW, they can't borrow another dollar because they ARE hocked to the ceiling and can't build another athletic building until that balance is reduced drastically.

I have heard talk of a Jerry Jones like Jumbotron at Tiger Stadium. I don't think they are really in the right state of mind when they make up these rumors. Nor do they really know what one of those monstrosities actually costs.

Was Crowton also running Les' offense at his previous stops? It has been pretty well documented that Crowton's offense has floundered everywhere after great initial success. As far as Chavis, he's one of the highest paid assistants in the country. Pelini had just as much success at LSU under Les. The head coach is responsible for stockpiling talent and surrounding himself with good assistants. While you can argue Miles isn't a great gameday coach, he's done a pretty good job managing the program to four 11 win seasons in his six years at LSU.

You are absolutely right in all your points here ... I can't figure out Crowton's floundering. He should only take 2 year contracts wherever he goes! As far as Les goes, maybe we are the ones that don't know anything about gameday coaching - he's won more often than losing and that's where it counts!

Hypothetically, lets take Chavis out of the picture and reunte Miles with his co-coordinators. You think that team smells, 4 wins this past year? I think your forgetting how suspect his 11 wins are. Lets say the ref crew isn't buzzed down and the play is never reviewed against UT. Let's say the lucky bounce doesn't happen and LSU loses the Florida game. Let's say Bama doesn't shut down in the second half and easily handles LSU. Let's say UNC completes their comeback. Let's say Noel Devine doesn't get hurt and plays the entire game. Let's say Ole Miss pulls out the shocker. As close as LSU was to being 12-0 and winning the SEC west, they were equally as close to 4-8 and missing a bowl game. That's where I can't see giving this guy too much credit. The only credit you can give him is....he wins. Plain and simple. How he does it, no one knows. One thing is for sure...without a good defensive coordinator...Miles is in trouble. Crowton was the fall guy. Should have happened years ago.

Hawk... Les Miles has 4 of LSU's 6 11 win seasons. And they were much closer to being 12-0 to being 4-8. That's why you play the game.

I don't like LSU. But to try to diminish Les Miles accomplishments are silly. The guy hires good defensive coordinators, because he is an offensive guy. Of course he would struggle if he didn't have a good defensive coordinator. As would Coach Hudspeth.

He is a winner and has won everywhere he has gone. Including LSU. Plus he will be in preseason national championship talk next year. The on hiccup is when Perrilioux left and he got jammed up at QB. Other than that he is a machine.

What? He recognized the mistake of hiring co-coordinators and fixed the problem. The UT comment makes no sense, they had 13 men on the field and were correctly penalized for it. Ok, I'll give you the bounce at Florida. LSU dominated in statistics and should have won by several more points. Devine had 37 yards on 14 carries. Not sure how much of a difference he was going to make. LSU held WVU to less than 200 yards of total offense, not much else to say there. If you are going to say Bama shutdown in the second half, I guess we can apply that logic to the UNC game and say LSU shutdown in the second half. Also, by using this twisted logic, Auburn could have easily lost 5 games during the regular season. IF Les replaces Crowton with the same caliber coach as Chavis, then hold onto your seats. Another top 10 class on the way and I'm sure you will see a few more 11 win seasons.

Agree. As much as I dislike LSU. I'm not delusional about how freaking good they are.

While I wont go as far as Hawk, I wold suggest that a&m@br realistically SHOULD have lost 3 more games

    1. North Carolina has 2 passes in the hands of their tight end in the last 10 seconds... Plays were not made by a&m... the passes were inexplicably dropped...

    2. Tennessee.. yes they had 13 player on the field but they could have has 2 players... the snap over the QB's head had nothing to do with 13 players.... so lets agree Tennessee lost the game in Les Miles fashion

    3. Florida - the fake field goal bounces directly into the hands of the kicker... 9 times out of 10 this play fails...

Perhaps the word "fortunate" might be appropriate... no way was this an 11 win team..............
