Hud will get the job done. Recruiting-wise, he has a positive, enthusiastic personality that players and their mamas will like. He had a knack for developing very good QBs at UNA. His first QB Will Hall won the Harlon Hill Trophy which is the top award in DII. His 2nd QB Vinnie Saylor had a very good season despite battling an injury to his throwing shoulder. His 3rd QB A.J. Milwee threw for a UNA record 8,436 yards. He always had an effective running game until the last couple of seasons when the Oline was decimated by injuries.
Though UNA is a DII school, they are always in the upper crust and has always had good success against D1 schools. As a matter of fact, I made the trip down to Lafayette back in '97 when UNA knocked off the Cajuns in quadruple overtime. So the competition that he's been successful against is very good and now he has D1 coaching time under his belt so there's no doubt in my mind he will hit the ground running.
