Actually, it is not correct. Air Raid is a spread offense. Success in Air Raid requires your QB to NEVER run.

The term 'spread offense' refers to line splits by the offensive line. It has nothing to do with what plays, groups of plays or systems are run out of it.

Literally everything from Air Raid through Veer through true triple option has been run from the spread.

We will run the same offense if Hudspeth is hired. If so, let's hope we can find another Desmo or Babb. To be successful with this offense, you had better have a stud QB that is not afraid to get dirty. _

I seriously don't think some people realize what an excellent athlete both Babb and MD were. It wasn't so much a "getting dirty" thing... but I know what you are implying. Those two guys were outstanding runners. MD was more physical... and Babb had a more accurate arm. But, in both cases, these guys were super athletes.

I want us to get on with the coaching announcement and start talking about that individual. I am tired of talking about the prospects and arguing about offensive schemes. There are two big issues at stake... great coaching skills and recruiting. The two aren't mutually exclusive... but recruiting is KING.

I'll go back to my old meaningless standby descriptor... our next coach has to be dangerous and willing to take risks. If we get another guy that thinks he can stack up his brain against the rest of the schedule... and win... we are in for another lame ride.

... 2006. That is the year that for whatever reason, Babb did not run as much as we all thought he should have.

Probably because he missed games in 2004 and 2005 due to injury from running.

I forget which year but he had old broken ribs he never knew about that were reinjured.
