Comparatively speaking, MSU hired Mullen who was the OC and QB coach at Florida for a few years and had followed Meyer previously at Utah and BGSU _

Never say never. Look what Tennessee did in taking a LA Tech guy who was coming off a losing season. For that matter, look what Auburn did. Took a guy who had consecutive losing seasons at Iowa State and the entire alumni base was in an uproar over the hire. My guess is no one is still complaining today. Some OC from great programs can't win as a HC. Goes to show you never know just what you are getting in a HC based on his track record.

Both of those examples are of guys that were D1 head coaches previously. Pretty big difference, though both highly scrutinized hires.

Been told that Hudspeth would not be a candidate for the HC position at Miss State, but could be interviewed have a position with Mullen at Miami or interview with the next HC.

The question then becomes, I guess, would he rather be a D1 head coach here or on the staff at a bigger school? My personal favorite for the job, but we'll see how it all shakes out.

A high scoring one, while the HC at North Alabama his offenses averaged around 41 points a game. I am going to assume it is more like a true spread, air raid type offense much like Texas Tech ran under Leach.

so he wouldn't have the personnel to run an effective offense right away right? If that's the case I hope he gets some good recruiters around him if he is hired

Actually you do have the personnel...Butler, Surgent, Lawson, and Green as your 4 receiving threats. Also Spikes and Streeter would be perfect in the back field.

Uh, we do run the spread and when the offense is healthy, had a pretty good offense. As mentioned, we have the receiving threats, we just need to mean streak to come out of the lineman when protecting their QB and paving away for our talented runners. Masson can throw all day and when he's protected is one of the best in the SBC. When he's pressured however, he tends to make his biggest mistakes.

Personally, I am not concerned about our offense regardless of who we bring in. I think the main question has to center on the defense and whether we have a coordinator that will kick them in the nads over and over again to toughen up the middle of that D. That's the only way we will win a conference championship.

Blake Hollingsworth could shake up the QB situation if he continues to progress. We have a ton of young talent that could adapt to that type of offense easily.
