Thread: The New UL Coach...

    Default The New UL Coach...

To have a successful winning program, the new coach must be able to recruit...recruit....recruit, and recruit. I would say, this is 70% of a programs success. I would like to see or hear about the head coach being more involved in the recruiting process, than coach Bustle. Our facilities and support are improving and the new coach must be able to take advantage of this, translating into improved recruiting. Only then, will the wins come on the field.

We at least have some excitement heading into Dec. Maybe not the kind we initially wanted, but the kind we now want.

    Gunter Brewer OK St.
    Kirby Smart Alabama
    Steve Kraigthorpe Tulsa/Louisville
    Gary Crowton LSU
    Dennis Franchione TAMU.
    Garrik McGee Arkansas

Which of these coaches have interest in the job?

word is that Holgorson is about to sign a new contract with OK. St for nearly a million $$ yearly.

Not sure about Gunter Brewer, I don't think he has enough experience.
Taken from Miss St bio, on Les Koenning, "A native of Houston, Koenning began his career with graduate assistantships at Texas and Alabama before being named wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Louisiana-Lafayette in 1985." How well did he do for UL in 1985 I wonder?

Steve Kraigthorpe ran the Louisville program into the ground. Not a good mark on the resume.

All of them have some sort of interest. Not sure, how many of them will get interviewed.

Dana Holgorson and Kirby Smart seem like the best from that list, but their price might be too high for UL. Kirby Smart looks like he would be a great hire, if we could possibly even come close to getting him. Young, motivated, great experience under Saban and according to his bio, a fine recruiter.

Agreed, but I do not think we have a realistic shot at landing him. I just know that there has been interest. Maybe just to get his name out there for possible openings. I would love to have a guy off of the Nick Saban coaching tree.

Nice list, but I don't believe the next head coach of UL is on it. I just don't think we have the money it would take to get any of them.

We are set up to guarantee a coach an attractive salary. We also have the ability to add much larger dollars based on performance results. Some fans are underestimating the full contract term possibilities.
