Saban REBUILT LSU. Your post was, um...retarded.

UL can not afford a guy like Saban, but we can afford a great young coach. There are wheels in motion that make this job very attractive, and we will have a very good coach when this is all said and done.

State budget restraints are only going to apply to how much money the State will pay for a coach. Les Miles make 300K from the state the rest of his salary is supplemented through TAF. UL's next coach will have the same type of deal. 200K or so from the state and another 200-300K from RCAF.

No, not retarded, just been around the block a few times. LSU had no idea what they were getting when they hired Saban. If you think they did, check it out. Sexton sold them on him, when another of his clients turned them down. As far as the money you plan on paying a coach, it would not pay a good coordinator's salary. The top ones are making in the $700K range and up. ULL needs to be realistic.

According to this guy, who is the beat writer for Miss State at the Clarion Ledger, Mark Hudspeth is out and won't even interview for the job. He could be misleading and still interested, but it seems legit that he's not interested and wont come here. Onto the other candidates.

In response to the article mentioned about Hudspeth having no interest in this job I want to give a very brief history lesson.

Nick Saban,"I'm not going to be the Alabama coach!!"

Do you believe that the Miss State beat writer (Brandon Marcello) took the words out of context? After reading your statement, first thing that came to my mind is the character of Hudspeth.

I do not know Hudspeth or the beat writer from Adam. If the conversation was had between Hudspeth and Marcello and Hudspeth truly stated that he was "not a candidate", I question Hudspeth's character by going back on his word if he chooses to interview for the vacant coaching job.

Am I wrong for thinking this?

Football scoop is reporting that Hudspeth is interested in the newly available position at ASU. Apparently he has ties to the AD.

I think he means that if Hudspeth could just be saying he's not interested so it wont be a distraction for Miss St. No current coach is gonna say "yep I'm very interested in ___ job" before he's even been interviewed.

There are only 11 assistants making more than 400K per year including incentives. Those salaries are from the 2009 season so there may be a handful more making that kind of money, but your fooling yourself if you don't think $400-500K could get a good OC/DC from a major program.

Trained response! The agents are taking care of everything. The Headhunters and the agents are the ones in charge....so the University nor the coach knows a thing. When the money is right, then they hear something.

It's business. You NEVER forsake your current employer unless the contract is signed.
