An unnamed source has confirmed to KATC's Travis Webb that UL Head Coach Rickey Bustle announced to his team following a 23-22 win over ULM that he will not be retained as Head Coach of the Ragin' Cajuns.

Thanks coach for making all of us proud of the individuals who carried our schools name on their jerseys. I know and agree that it was time to make a change. I would like many others like to pass on thanks to coach Bustle for all that he did for our program. Thanks for all the time and effort and progress you made over the last several years and i believe you leave the program in much better shape then when you took it over and that to me merits a successful run.

I'd also like to add a thank you to coach bustle. I very much advocated a change and wanted you out, but I will say that you were one of the reasons I started following cajun football because my first year at the University was your first year there and I just remember all the buzz that came with the new hire. If the next guy that comes in can generate half the buzz that you did when you landed here, then there will be a whole heck of a lot of excitement at UL. You did a great job getting us back to respectability, and I even with everything I've said negative, I truly do hope you land somewhere and are successful there because you truly are a classy guy. Thanks for all the good times.

I have been a season ticket holder for a number of years, and will be for a very long time no matter what. There were some magical times and some not so magical times over the years, and I am thankful for having been there to experience some of the better ones. Good Coach and a Good Person, I have faith in the Cajun community to support this program. That is why I am proud to support the RCAF and University Academics ( After attending USL for so many years they felt a financial hit after I graduated, so I just have to give to make it less hard on them lol). I may see this University through rose colored glasses, but when you bleed vermilion it just comes naturally. I know we are on our way forward, the hiring of coach Marlin is a good sign.

Next year I know my family and friends will more than be excited to attend all the games with a great new hire..and with the support I know all of us will give Him!
