5A: 3 of the 4 Semifinal Teams are from Acadiana area (2 in lafayette)
4A: Teurlings is from the Acadiana Area (another Lafayette school)
3A: Notre Dame of Crowley (and some what Patterson) is from the Acadiana Area
Your move UL?

Why don't we allow ourselves to get a new coach 1st.

The cream of the crop is already in purple. It's sad but it's reality.
Problem number 1 having the local kids want to play for UL. Problem number 2 a 1.5 GPA gets you eligible to play in LHSAA where a 2.0 gets you into college so a number of these kids are not even eligible.
I would love to see Bakari Hollier and Micah Eugene suit it up for the Cajuns, but I just don't see it happening. Also there is no reason for kids from Acadiana go play for any other mid major besides UL, but we have to fight perception.
The next coach's biggest challenge will be to load his staff up with great recruiters.
Problem 3: Not all successful prep teams have future college players. And not all prep standouts project as D1 players.

stereotyping as "D1 Talent" has probably been the biggest mistake that a lot of D1 schools make.
My biggest example was a WR Standout from Destrehan, LA after getting 2 state championships his Junior and Senior year.
He was over looked by MANY D1 schools because he is 5'8" and 165 when he graduated.
What schools overlooked is his Exceptional speed and rediculous ball handling skills and catching abilities, much to resemble the likes of Desean Jackson.
So instead of him staying close to home he goes all the way to the University of Tulsa and has been dominating since

some people have a perception strictly by reading the cover of a book, labeling players as "D1 Talent" but if you don't do your research on specific players then you will pass up on some big opportunities.
Josh you hit the nail on the head. I could not have said it better myself.
You are talking about Demarious Johnson, who if I remember correctly came down to 2 schools, UL and Tulsa. We were after him, he did not get over looked. By the way he was also a 4 star recruit. We were very close to signing Chris Richard, Jordan Jefferson and Demarious Johnson. JJ recieved a late offer from LSU and chose to go there.
Don't think that we haven't tried to get kids like this, because we have. Ricky Johnson from Carencro is another example who chose Tulsa over UL. They have been more successful that UL has. That is what it boils down to.
In order for UL to start signing the best of the rest from Louisiana, UL will have to change its perception. We are starting to do that with construction of new dorms, the IPF and eventually the stadium enhancements. Once those projects are complete then we will see better athletes sign with the Cajuns.
