    I agree.

There is really no point in blowing it out of proportion. He is not being fired for being a bad person or violating rules, so why would you want to be vindictive? Coach Bustle is a decent stand up guy. He was not successful enough but why all of hate?

This 60K will have no effect at all on what the next coach earns or how he recruits. I just think you are dead wrong on this campaign.

Thanks for replying to point 1.

As far as being vindictive or hateful, I am neither. This thread is for those who think UL can toss around $60 thousand for no good reason and act like it is chump change. . . . among other reasons but hateful and vindictive are not on the list.

I think it is like an earlier poster stated; it is not that we can toss around $60k now; we couldn't toss around 400k last year!

I agree again. This discussion is pointless.

    1) For one you are giving away $60 thousand (reduced buyout) dollars needlessly.

    2) You have no idea if the next coach will have the same recruiting philosophy.

    3) The year-1 coach brings much more fire power to the recruiting game. Always! Meaning caliber of players goes up.

    4) You put the new coach in an awkward position to honor early commitments, which may or may not match his style, or be of the caliber he would attract.

    5) It puts out any loin fire that would have been lit when one finds themself in the last year of a contract.

You are nuts there is only one reason you you don't lie about an extension it is clear as day the recruits are not that stupid they know a one year extension doesn't mean a thing. One extra year won't make a recruit come here to play for Bustle they came to attend UL and get a free scholarship.

If you don't think coaches are important in recruiting you have not been following college recruiting in a long time. The coaching staff is a huge reason that any recruit picks a school, from head coach down to the assistant that recruited him.

Also, it is now common practice for schools to grant blanket releases to kids who signed with a school and then the coach leaves.

I know how important coaches are to recruiting. If a coach is telling recruits he just signed a new contract and is proud to be there. It won't make them sign for the coach who is only under a new contract for their redshirt and freshman year. Recruits are not stupid they can add one extra year won't make them sign, if they do sign it wasn't for the coach.

I beg to differ, no football player would ever sign with a school if they didn't want to play for the coach.
