Houston shot free throws well and that is one reason they won the game. The foul trouble did prevent the Cajuns from playing defense in the 2nd half like they did the first half. Offensively, going ice cold in the last few minutes spelled doom. I won't say anything about the refs than you guys have said. However, that is not why they lost. They lost becasue of turnovers at critical times and lost of poise on offense in the late going.
Holy ______ we lost by 13? Man, we fell apart.
Yes, the Cajuns did fall apart in the last few minutes. Sad thing is we led 65 to 64 with four minutes to go and did not score again. We won't win many games if we don't get mentally tougher. Face it, this team does not have the talent needed to be a consistent winner. Therefore the mistakes must be minimized.
Tim Floyd is 4-1 at UTEP right now if anyone is wondering.
We're gonna get there. We just don't have a winner's mentality yet. Cleveland State and Houston aren't that much better than us. They just know how to win.
Coach Marlin was upset with both his team and the refs in post game. Major comment was "We don't do what we are supposed to do when we are supposed to do it". He also said "I am used to winning games like this" Some of this is due to the results of the past few years. At crunch time, our guys are not mentally strong enough. They (like us) have become mentally conditioned to expect these results as a consequence of all the tough road outcomes from the past few years. Our guys need to learn how to "win". That is different than learning how to "play". Getting over this mental hump is the major challenge Coach Marlin and his staff have now.
