We have to find ways to get Daigle and Perez open looks at the 3. I don't think either one had many open looks if any tonight. When we don't have the bigs to feed it into we will need to create open 3's. I really like the high post sets and cuts to the basket. Also we had a few nice pick and rolls and back door cuts that I enjoyed watching tonight. I will say this team is fun to watch even though we are losing because it is a much better brand of basketball than what we are used to. The defense plays really hard and creates turnovers but often leaves the open 3 too many times.

As soon as we get better covering the 3, cut down on turnovers, and run Marlin offense we will win plenty of games. At times we are playing out of control on offense trying to do too much with the dribble and not passing the ball when we should.

Last year watching Lee's team in either a loss or win it was bruital to watch.

I feel confident coming out of timeouts this year.

I was just stirring things up on the board and wondering what if, I know many on this board wanted Floyd including me. Floyd jerked us around anyway and in the end we did not have a shot.

I am very pleased with Marlin as I think he is an excellent coach. I had just hoped we would have had a better start. Other than New Mexico St. we have 3 loses to teams I feel were not anymore talented than us. 2 loses at home already sucks also. Our only win has come against D3 Louisiana College which I don't feel like we dominated. I sure hope we beat McNeese next week. I can't stand losing to those guys!

Next year this will be Marlins team. He has J. Brown, Perez, Mbadaualla if thats how u spell it, and Arrington. Plus next year he has the 4 signees coming in. Next year will be his guys, the guys he brings in to get it done. IMO a 1-4 start next year could be a lost worse feeling then a 1-4 start this year. I thinks its great that the team is playing harder, thats fine, I want to win games though. Coach Marlin has his stuff together, he is orginized and runs a great practice. Most coaches that take this approach will win games. IMO no matter how good the coach is, you still gotta have good players. Recruiting is the key for success, to get good players, you gotta win games. If Marlin brings in some good players he will win games. Guys who set screens, guys who know how to read screens to get open to knock down jumpers. A legit PG, a floor general. Two years from now, the Cajundome should be rockin. If we get it together on the football side, two years from now, Lafayette should be rockin.

We have had a busy schedule with many games for a new team. The team appears healthy now and I look forward to see them play again after a regular routine of practices.
I believe that many people will be pleasantly surprised by the time conference play rolls around.

Randal needs move to the 2 guard and let Andrews run the one. He needs be a scorer. He dribbles far too much. He would benefit from getting down the floor get open and let Andrews find him. Tonight they had Andrews at the 2. He scored 8 pts but is not the outside scoring threat Daigle is.

Oh and for those of you who keep saying he will have "his players" stop disrespecting the current players. Bureau, Diagle, Gary and Andrews are giving 100% to Marlin. They are playing along with Brown, Harrington, Perez and Mbambula. So stop bad mouthing them please. I agree the bigs are missing and hurting us but stop doing general reference to "his kids" vs the rest. Andrews only played one year as a "Lee" kid so are you throwing him away next year too?

    The season starts now.

The team doesn't even have a full week of practicing as a complete team under their belts yet.

Also what is the combined record of UL's opponents so far?

    Good points, Turbine.

I also agree that we should not in any way disrespect our current group of players. We are surely not void of talent. But I think most would agree that some key pieces need to be added to get us back to where we want to be and where this program should be. I think Coach Marlin will get us to the point this year of competing in the Belt...but I pity the rest of the league once he has 2 or 3 recruiting classes in here.

Desperately need a producing big man. Its killing our 3-4's to have to bang.

I saw on Louisiana College's website that the game vs us was an exhibition. how is that so if it was considered a real game for us?
