HATTIESBURG, Miss. — University of Louisiana will look to improve its team finish and Peter Badawy will aim at another impressive individual performance today when the Ragin’ Cajun golf team opens play in the Raising Cane Classic hosted by Southern Mississippi.

The Ragin' Cajuns are part of a 17-team field that will play two rounds today and a final 18 holes Tuesday over the 6,964-yard par-71 Canebrake Golf Club. UL Lafayette is making its first appearance in the Raising Cane event since 2002 when the Cajuns finished sixth of 17 teams.

Badawy, a junior from McLean, Va., is coming off his best collegiate outing last week at the Mean Green Classic hosted by North Texas. Badawy finished tied for third overall with a 73-71-73—217 score at the Lantana Golf Club.
