A new photo collection has just been added to Louisiana's Southwestern Archives and Manuscripts Collection in Edith Garland Dupré Library. Ory Miguez recently donated 600,000 images, covering the years of 1953 to 1993.

The collection includes many negatives from weddings, graduations, dance recitals and carnival balls as well as individual and family portraits taken by Miguez at his studio in Franklin. He also has photographed many legal, industrial and oil field subjects. Assignments from major oil companies and law firms have taken him from Mexico to the North Sea. Many of his pictures were used in trade publications and annual reports.

This collection joins two other large photo collections in the repository, the Barnett Studio Collection from Crowley and the John E. Stephen Photograph Collection (Pelican Studio) from Lafayette.
