LOUISIANA La. - Lousiana freshman Jacob Simmons was named to the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association Cross Country team after a stellar season with the Ragin' Cajuns.
He also garnered Sunbelt Freshman of the year honors.
Simmons, a native of Houma, LA, had two top 5 finishes and four top 10 finishesat ULL.
He won his first ever collegiate meet by winning the Ragin' Cajun Invitational with a time of 26:30.
He placed 6th at the Sun Belt Conference Championship Meet and was selected to the all-conference team.
Tim Lemaire is coach of the year honors after leading the Ragin' Cajuns to the programs first ever Sun Belt Conference Championship and its first conference championship since 1974 when it was a member of the Southland Conference.
Three Ragin’ Cajuns finished in the top 10, while six runners finished in the top 30 overall.
