Thread: UL was D1aa (???) when the Lions' C.C. Brown attended

  1. Default UL was D1aa (???) when the Lions' C.C. Brown attended

It was just a bad choice by me." Brown is from Greenwood, Miss., and attended University of Louisiana-Lafayette, which was Division I-AA when he went there. "(Being in New York) took me out of my character, being around all those cameras and stuff," he said.

if i'm not mistaken, we were never 1-aa. we were once in the "college division." then we moved up to the "university division." this was waaaay back in the early '70's. then we decided to become 1-a when we had to make a choice. now we are fbs. someone out there can surely verify, or correct my assertions.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Wasn't there one big division at one time.

I actually see that Mcneese played in the Indy Bowl in 76, 79 & 80.

When did the schools such as Mcneese and Northwestern St. form the I-AA now FCS?

There was a College and University Division but UL moved up to the University Division before the University Division split into DI and DIaa.

University Division members had to decide between DI and DIaa. UL went with D1 from day one.

At that same time College Division members had to decide if they were going to become DII, DIII, or move up to DIaa.

Just to clear things up, I politely emailed the editor of the paper last night and he promptly responded today. He spoke with the writer and they realize they made a mistake. I was told that the article has been corrected and he hopes to see the Cajuns in the motor city bowl soon!
So now the b****ing about the quote can stop. Your welcome...
