Sadly, moving them has been reviewed and the % of (old) trees that live after being moved is not high..aka not worth the investment. I think this campus {I lived in the Mc Cullen(sp) dorms} needs an update to attract students that L definitly needs. More students = more money. I do not know how parking is now on campus, but I would have dug up every oak tree to put in a 20 level parking garage in 1992. Just joking!

People need to get their priorities straight. Expansion at UL is more important than 6 semi-old trees. I'm for saving them if possible, but not at great expense. We can and will plant more trees. These aren't the last 6 trees on campus.

I will always have greater memories of Blackham than any oak on the UL campus----I mean it is not that I don't love and appreciate the oaks ----but in the long run --we get more trees planted and on the whole the campus will look and serve the students better!!!!!!

I have an idea if someone can get me some of the trees logs. I have a small lathe and turn ink pens and wine bottle stopper. I could make pens and stoppers out of the wood and sell them. All I would keep is what it cost me and donate the rest to the RCAF of any other area that the University needs funding. Just a thought. Would be a keep sake for those who like the trees and would like to have something from them.

You might be on to something there. Except have the donations go toward campus beautification and adding more trees to other areas of the UL campus.
