    Good old fashioned loyalty.

Well said, sir. After being terrible year after year, once we get it together it'll be all the sweeter.

For me it's about several things. One, I'm a proud alumni of the University of Louisiana. For a lot of people that should mean something. Second, the university was my home for 6 and a half years of my life(Yeah I took my time and had fun doing it). I lived there, worked there, went to school there, ate there, etc. And I loved every minute of it. It's only second nature to be loyal to your home. Third, who else is gonna do it? This is a huge problem with people in Louisiana, no one likes a loser. If your not winning your not worth their time. Sure you have some loyal people, but for the most part people in Louisiana go looking for a winner.

Four cases in point, LSU in the early 2000's blew up, I grew up here, and during the 80's and 90's you never heard a thing from them. Saban took over and kaboom, it's the cool thing now to be a WalMart tiger fan or paper Tiger. The Saints, before Katrina you would be lucky to see a "Faith" sticker on someones car. Now, you can't blink without seeing a Gold fluer de lis, saints flags, saints shirts, hats, guys wanting to be Sean Payton(vicodin addicts?). The Hornets, no one gives a good god damn unless this team is winning. But its NBA so I give them a pass on that. Even, the Cajuns. If everyone can remember the season where we went 5-2, they had a rap song on the radio about us. It was god awful. And prolly caused our downfall to 6-6 that year. And they all have their exceptions. I know lifelong LSU fans, Saints fans, even lifelong Cajuns fans. The Hornets, you people need to get a life.

So what keeps my faith? Being an alumni, missing my home, and because loyalty in this state is a rare commodity, and one UL needs in bunches.

A salute to you sir, for your service to this country(belated veterans day appreciation) and for your patronage to your local community.

Are we talking about "faith" or "loyalty"? The question was followed by the original poster that despite our losing in sports, he continues to stick with the school. I'm loyal to the university no matter what. It is my alma mater. I have faith that if we loyal types keep pushing for common goals and supporting them, we'll achieve them.

I don't have "blind faith". If I want something done I have to be willing to help. Back to losing in sports (not the most important issue at UL... but an issue worth discussing)... I believe if we maintain a certain approach to athletics, we will see some very gratifying results. It is much more gratifying to help raise something that needed your help and enjoy even the slightest results, than to simply observe, and only jump on board when it wins.

I agree with everything you said. Lafayette was an awesome place to live and UL was a great place to go to school. I head back to Lafayette every chance I get even though I have no family there and all my friends have moved on.

I've been a life long Saints fan. Never thought I would live long enough to see them have such an awesome season like last year. I pray I live long enough for the Cajuns to have a similar type season or at least go to a bowl game.

I keep holding on to see the Cajuns' REAL uniforms, our traditional uniforms return to their rightful place in Cajun Field.

Melvin White picking up an Ole Miss fumble and bringing it back for a touchdown before the end of the first half and giving me a glimpse of hope. Moments like that in games that give me more excitement than watching perennial winners I have no ties with and expecting that kind of play to happen.

Graduating in exactly 30 days, and I wouldn't change one moment of my UL experience.

You are exactly right, he is asking about loyalty.

The best phrase I have ever read of describe/define faith goes like this. . .

"Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld."

    "Ana Loves Bineaux"

ps Ana's not blushing, she's naturally that red.
    Vermilion Red.
