Maybe so .. But lets face it - we are not going to get a top asst from a big time program with the little money we are offering and as I stated before Viator has proved that he can build a better program than we have with a lot less resources and we can afford him and we can ____ of the folks in Lake Charles .. Seems like a win win win win situation...
Personally I don't think the other coaches are any better. Yes they are coming from BCS programs but that does not make them a better coach.
If Sewak did not have ties to Scott Farmer would he be a serious candidate.
If DeForest was not an UL alum would he be a serious cadidate.
Hudspeth as spent less time in the D1 ranks as an OC or HC than Viator.
If Viator is such a great coach, why has not been offered a job at a I-A program?

Viator will not be our next coach.. Moving on..

It would be silly not to interview Matt Viator and give him the respect he deserves.

This discussion needs to go away forever!!!!.....NO NO NO NEVER!!!!!!
Do we know for sure there are better candidates that WANT the job? Sometimes people apply for jobs because its available and they are interested not necessarily that they want the job. If during the interview process it sounds like a good job then they may want it. Sometimes they apply just to hone their interview skills for something down the road. I interviewed a lot of people in 40 years in running a business and not all of them wanted the job they interviewed for. Most do but sometimes its just testing the waters. Some of the coaches maybe using the job at UL as a bargaining chip to get a raise where they are. If they are interviewing for another HC job they may use the UL job again as a bargaining chip and vice versa. I am not advocating Viator for the UL job just pointing out there are lots of reasons people interview for a certain job.
