_ Good thoughts. I am one that just does not buy into the "hype" designated by "stars" on a recruit. That is just fodder for water cooler talk. Besides, A blind man can notice "4" and "5" star talent. We are not even there just to find one.

In our current culture of low level SBC football success, I think we need to create a culture of winning before we can worry about star quality. And, I believe we will not get the star quality until we win. No matter who is chosen as the head coach. _

I disagree with you a bit about people being able to notice 4 and 5 star talent. I know an old retired coach who recruited at LSU, Houston, Georgia and Florida during his career. He said he never considered how many stars they had. He had a knack for knowing whether a kid could play at the college level and he found more of that talent at the 3 star range than the 4 and even some 5's.

_ I have heard Matt Viator's interview was a "Courtesy" interview to appease some big money boosters..... Why would he NOT be getting serious consideration?? Viator has SUCCESSFUL head coaching experience at McNeese. (They are consistently in the top programs in their division each year.) He has very strong and successful recruiting connections in Louisiana and East Texas. Viator has done it all with a much smaller budget and worse facilities than we have.

There are a number of successful programs nationwide who have found great coaches at smaller schools in their back yard. _

BTW McNeese is moving into a brand new $20 million dollar football facility in May.

I really hope you are right about that one. Because if we pay some big money to get the same old results then we will lose even more credibility than we have already lost. I'm content to have a plan where we build, learn to walk, run, and then stand on a winning tradition. If we can find a coach that does that, he will be legendary.

My guess is they are trying to work out the contract verbiage to satisfy the new coach and we will know tomorrow or Monday.
