Thread: Ragin' Cajun Blog: Marlin announces four-man signing class

For those that patiently waited for my additional recruiting news: Hill College power forward Odayne Clarke suffered a season-ending knee injury three games into this year. Clarke is expected to obtain a medical hardship and will have three years left to play for the Cajuns. Heard it here first. Bad news, yet good news for Cajuns. Clarke will get a chance to step right in and play the 4 next season.

Hope he can recover well from the injury. Next season is going to be weird, it seems like Bureau, Daigle, and Gary have been here forever.

I've been told that Clarke should have no issues coming back from this injury.

  4. Default Marlin hits homer with first class

The Ragin' Cajuns dipped into the junior college ranks for three signees in forward/center Kadeem Coleby (Daytona State College), power forward Odayne Clarke (Hill College) and point guard Darnell Jackson (University of South Carolina Salkehatchie).

It is unfortunate that Clarke was injured. The silver lining in this is that having to sit out this year will allow him to play three years for us. Hopefully the injury heals completely and he is 100% come next season. We need some rebounding bulk under the basket.

These guys certainly fit the size profile but I'm hoping they truly make a splash and contribute immediately as we will need them to. I hope we are able to get some offense from at least one of the big men we get next year as it seems all of them are imposing but lack the offensive sharpness that we may need down low. I'm hoping we can snag Shawn Long as he would be a good swingman and we would get him for 4 years. To me, that would add tremendous value to this class. JUCO rankings don't mean much if these guys don't come in and produce.

Hopefully not but season ending injuries are always serious. At the least, I'd imagine that they would limit his minutes to begin the season as he may be having soreness due to full time practice and wear and tear that goes with a season.

I believe it is more an evidence of poor coaching, the fact that these guys were starters and got significant playing time. I really think Lee (and his staff) did a good job recruiting talent, Tyren Johnson and Travis Bureau were great catches and Gradnigo, although he did not pan out, was a very highly regarded recruit at the time. Wasn't Millsap also recruited under Lee? He could have been great here with the proper coaching.

    Change is here.

And, look who we outrecruited to get them. I don't recall too many players in the past who were recruited by such namel programs.
