Thread: Burnt Roux: Donna Bourgeois Transferring

Good luck to Donna wherever she might land (I have heard that Houston may be her next stop). She certainly did a good job while here at UL.

With the return of Brignac and the influx of new pitchers, including the best pitcher in Louisiana last year, her role might have been reduced? Regardless of the reason, I'm quite sure Lady Cajun Softball will be just fine.

So now this has turned into a bash the Lotief's thread? Get serious, they may have botched a few decisions here and there, but what coach hasn't?

Donna decided to leave the program, I honestly believe she will regret that decision, but it is her decision and I respect that. She did great things while she was here, but the way things were handled on both parties left a bunch of people with disdain for the coaches and Donna. It will pass.

""including the best pitcher in Louisiana last year,""

I'm not into softball as much as I used to when my daughter played, but didn't the Patterson girl (pitcher) from Mt. Carmel win the Gatorade softball player of the year last year?

This is pretty shocking news about Bourgeois. I'm sure the truth will never come out about "Why".

That would be Meghan Patterson who won Gatorade Player of the year. Great player.

Hamilton's numbers were slightly better but she played single A vs. 5A for Patterson which I'm sure garnered her more attention. Nothing wrong with that. Both are extremely good and I suspect will have some epic battles in the years to come if they can both stay healthy.

To answer a couple of questions:

***I've been told that the University of Houston is a serious possibility for Bourgeois. In fact, I was told that last week before this became official. UofH is coached by former Cajun All-America pitcher Kyla (Hall) Holas.

***Cajun freshman pitcher Christina Hamilton, a former LSU pledge, was the LSWA Miss Softball last season at Rosepine after going 29-4-1, striking out a state-record 506 batters and hitting .500 as a senior. She set the state record with 1,807 career strikeouts (fifth nationally). Mount Carmel pitcher Meghan Patterson, now at LSU, was the Gatorade Louisiana Player of the Year for the second straight year. She went 24-9 with 451 strikeouts and a 0.34 ERA as a senior and hit .351. Feel free to argue which was the better player.

  7. Default Bourgeois leaving Cajuns

UL athletic director David Walker granted senior pitcher Donna Bourgeois a release from her scholarship on Monday afternoon.

I doubt she will regret it.

Looks like a few of Donna's family and friends have decided to start posting here. Best of luck to Donna, but as always, I'm sure there are two sides to the story! Hopefully she will be successful wherever she ends up. On the other hand, there is no doubt the Cajuns will continue with their success.

Be on the lookout for Brignac's younger sister to end up somewhere besides UL, most likely LSU. Old Man Brignac aint too happy with the Lotief's either. _

I aint in high school any longer dad, just drop it.

They both played travel ball, facing some of the best in the country. 1A or 5A doesn't much matter when the majority of your softball game experience was against some of the best competition in the country.
