I am 100 % with you. The biggest problem that the cajuns are currently dealing with is the disconnect between it's coaching staff and the Louisiana High School coaches. Cook would bridge that gap immediatly. He would surround himself with quality people who will have a vested interest in turning the program around. He was the best offensive coordinator that the Cajuns have had in years and his defenses at Notre Dame have been so ridiculously good that COLLEGE coaches regularly visit him and his staff for ideas and direction.

I realize that many cajun fans are "BIG EYED" over big names, but I believe that the best fit for our program lives 20 miles to the west.

Cook get off of raginpagin and keep teaching the kids in HS lol jk

Just cause Cook may be better than Bustle, doesn't mean he is the best candidate for the job. Recruiting High School players from other high schools is alot easier then recruiting High School Players from other colleges. If UL makes a mistake of hiring a HS football coach then this university is in for a rude awakening.

I have full confidence in our administration to hire the right coach should there be an opening after the season. I'm going to sit back and watch.

We're not back on Coach Cook? You know...at some point we need to finally move past that.

As the last poster said, considering that I have ZERO inside info...which means I have ZERO facts...I will sit back and let the administration do it's job.

I've spoken about coaches, both "big" name and "unheard of" names, on this board.

    I haven't mentioned Coach Cook.

That is only because I just assume he no longer has interest in the job.

However, if he were to be interested, I would hire him immediately and not lose a wink of sleep about the future of Cajun football because I know it would be in EXCELLENT hands.

Alright I will bite. I do believe that Cook may be a good fit for the program, but I do not feel that it is in the Head Coaches role. Reading this thread over and over again, I also feel that Orgeron may be a great step in the right direction if he would be interested in the position. I think with the ties that Ed has to the state and the relationships that he has with the high school coaches in the area, I am sure that he would be able to put a great staff together to help this team get to a bowl game. I also know first hand that Cook is not the only area high school coach that would be very interested in a position on the Cajuns coaching staff, just seem that he was never even given a call or second thought when Bustle was looking for assistants. He is the only coach on Cooks staff that is in the LHSAA Hall of Fame. I guess Bustle got what was coming to him.

Hiring a successful coach worked out well for North Texas. Coach Cook can recruit better at ND than at UL.

I like Lou Cook as much as the next guy but translating success from High School to college has very little proven results to back its theory. Todd Dodge is the most recent proving point for this notion as he was arguably the most successful high school coach in the country and perhaps in history before his hire at NT. He didn't even get to double digit wins before his firing. I believe its apples and oranges when comparing the two levels and to think that he will be just as successful as other high school coaches to get the same opportunity may be assuming too much. I would be in favor of possibly bringing him on as a coordinator like he was under Stokley but I do not feel that this program needs to bring in a high school coach. Just because he has led a very successful high school program doesn't mean that kids across the state would feel any differently about committing to his program over someone else's and I don't think that would improve our recruiting base within this state or region. In fact, i think it would hurt it because he has no track record of success across the collegiate landscape. This school is committed to paying a coach at the top of the SBC for his rebuilding services and I think we can get a much safer and proven candidate for the money they are willing to spend than coach Cook
