I'm not completely behind the idea of Orgeron because of the limited success he had at Ole Miss and because of the lack of loyalty he showed the Saints by leaving after only a year (and Tennessee...basically, would he do it to us?), but I'd give him a chance if he were hired. I think that his recruiting ability would up our level of talent, and since we're not in the SEC chances are good that he could succeed with good players and, at worst, average coaching.

Jeff Monken is in his first year at Ga So as of last week he was below .500. If he gets job offer it will be completly on the basis that he and Scott Farmer are good friends not what he is doing at Ga So

There isn't an AD or college President in America stupid enough to hire Ed Orgeron. He's dragging along more baggage than all the carousels combined at Chicago's O'Hare and Atlanta's Hartsfield airports.

I want a coach with a million dollar potential and a $175,000 salary.

The salary is year one base with attainable incentives. Incentives plus salary to peak at $500,000 in year three.

A head coach who has recruited with no budget.

A coach who has had more than two years of JC experience to show he can turn a program around in two years because that is what a JC coach has to do every two years.

If he has that in his background the next stop would be a successful stint at an FCS or DII school.

I'm torn on Coach O, but I lean towards no. His recruiting ability is largely a myth. At Ole Miss, he had some great classes on NSD. However if you look at the rankings when the season started, you'd see that most of the big star recruits never made it on campus.

Even worse, many of the ones that did make it in didn't last long. They either flunked out or quit. Attrition was terrible. In his last class, he didnt even sign a full class, and many of the ones he did sign didn't make the grades. It was like self imposed probation.

He did a good job of scouting the DL, but not so much anywhere else. I can get th actual numbers if anyone is interested, but his recruiting, by and large, wasn't much better than Houston Nutt's.

He does have energy, but it takes more than that. He lost his teams with stupid crap. During a lightning delay, he had his team doing board drills and full contact. We ended up wearing down and losing to Wake Forest because WR ran out of gas. Towards the end, his players quit on him.

He didn't get a great start because there were a lot of folks who wanted to see him fail. But he didnt do himself any favors, either. I just don't think it would be the best thing for the Cajuns.

What scares me is that I keep hearing Orgeron is #1 on the list and I have no idea why. This is a very pivotal hire for this program, I'd rather not see this guy get the job.

He's already probably making 2 to 3 times as much $ as Bustle

Mark Hudspeth - passing game coordinator Miss St. - not something I would want on my resume based on this year's results

Dana Holgorson - offensive coordinator OK St. - only if Gunter Brewer comes as OC(the Man behind the OSU Offensive Curtain)

Ed Orgeron - USC- best drive by shooting potential, will instantly turn the LSU faithful into a skillet full of frenzied flopping fish, the players would love him, and we would have a dominant D

Jim Leavitt - former USF HC - no comment

Jeff Bower - Former USM HC - solid, but may lack the fire that will be needed to fight the fights that need fighting to turn this thing around

Terry Bowden - HC North Alabama - I imagine that he has learned much from his past, he is probably one of our best choices if we can afford him, but he will move on to bigger and better things at the first hint of success

    Tommy Bowden - ditto

Yep. Very much the exception to the rule.

If you're going to do an apples to apples comparison, Steve Roberts would be a better example.

I am surprised not to hear more about Joe Deforest, Associate Head Coach @ OK State and Cajun Alumni, mentioned thus far. I may have missed it!

What about David Cully or Tyke Tolbert? Both are now in the NFL and have had prior coaching experience here.
