For nearly 40-years, the Frog Festival has been a tradition here in Acadiana.
It attracts people from around the country to see Rayne's famous frogs, food and its queens, but these queens are a little different; They dress like a jockey- and there's a history going back over 60-years.
"The prettiest girls in Rayne all dressed up and had a frog-jumping contest and they wore a jockey uniform," said newly crowned queen, Dakota Henry.
It's a tradition they still jump into today.
"They get to dress their frogs." Director of the competition, Luke Beslin says, "they have a best dressed frog competition and they get to jump their frogs also."
And then, there's the frog racing and jumping competition- it's one of the most unique events you'll see at any festival.
"I think it's fun," eight-year-old Haylie Hofftauir said.
Hofftauir not only won Petite Miss Rayne, but her frog she named "Bob" also jumped a whopping 64-inches; winning them both first prize.
An... interesting day for frog lovers and for those who will stick to their day job.
