University of Louisiana quarterback Jerry Babb was named as the first Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week after the Cajuns’ 14-7 win over Northwestern State on Saturday.

Babb accounted for both Cajun touchdowns with eight carries for 32 yards and a touchdown, as well as 17-of-26 passing for 176 yards and a touchdown.

Other honorees include Troy senior defensive end Demarcus Ware. Ware recorded seven tackles, including 4.5 for losses of 29 yards. That total vaulted him to the top of Troy’s all-time lead of tackles for losses with 43.5.

Ware also sacked Marshall quarterback Stan Hill three times in the game, twice forcing fumbles with one leading to a Troy touchdown in the 17-15 win over Marshall.
