"A 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-hander, Mayer played last season at Washington State after signing with the Cougars over Arizona State, Arkansas, Cal, Utah and UC Irvine..."

Holy cow. This staff is recruiting their arses off

Is it me, or does it seem like the players that don't make the Cajuns roster could be an upper level SBC team?

Theoretically, how good can this team be? Will they win the Belt, will they win a regional, could they win a Super Regional????? Or possibly even more?

Looks like the talent level is there for a run. Team chemistry is a huge factor in winning teams. Cannot wait to see how it plays out!

Mayer committed early in the recruiting process to Washington State. Would have had even more interest if not for that. He played summer ball in Illinois with some Seminole State College players. Trahan spotted him at a JUCO showcase in Oklahoma a few months ago.

It seems like wehave locked up some good arms...always a little wiery of juco pitchers because of the adjustment time it takes for them to be a good D1 pitcher. For some it happens sooner than others. I will anxiously await there arrival and see how they pan out. One thing is for sure, Trahan signed some really good juco guys while at ulm, I think he is the real deal as for as a recruiting coordinator . Now, if we could get some stud bats to go along with the arms!!!

No, the NCAA changed the rules a few years ago. To play D1 ball in the spring, you have to have been there in the fall. Applies to all players. igeaux.mobi

Josh, just to clarify. My understanding is that you can play in the spring if you were enrolled in school for the fall semester, but didn't participate in "fall ball".

Yes, you can play in the spring if you were enrolled for school in the fall regardless of participation in fall ball. Boomer asked if anyone can play that "wasn't here for fall ball." I took that as not being on campus, too. The players that sat out fall ball were here and will be fine for the spring.
