I'm not Josh but, Great power hitting catcher Throws Right, Bats Left. Super kid from a very good family. He's being heavily recruited by all the SEC schools. I know Alabama and LSU are been REAL Interested in the kid. He's been to a few UL games the last few years. He's close to the other Acadiana players on UL's roster for obvious reasons. Hope coach Trahan can work some magic (again) this kid can flat out play. He's been first team all district since his Sophomore year in a very strong baseball district. Plays travel ball for a team in Texas, so I'm sure there are quite a few schools over there are on him also.

Trahan is a junior, he is in the 2012 class. According to Perfect Game Scouting he has 1-3 round draft potential.

To answer your question: He might not play in college because he's a considered to be an early draft prospect. Big, physical kid with the frame to catch now and a strong bat. Cajuns are going hard after him. Will be a prep junior in 2011. Numbers should match up for him to have a chance to play a lot at UL. Strentz would be a junior at the time he would be a freshman. That's why there were no catchers in the 2011 recruiting class. Will be very interesting to follow.

CajunT that's good stuff, Trahan has two years of baseball left in high school, wow. He was a game changer as a Sophomore, he's going to be fun to watch.

He must stick out like a sore thumb on the high school field. He's got CF wheels.

    PG says...Player Note

Oustanding All Around C, very athletic, 6.67 60 (yard dash), 1.85 pop, serious bat speed and juice in bat, big power potential.

He attended the East Coast Pro Showcase this summer before his Jr. year. Very rare for a rising Jr. to be invited to that pro scouting deal.

Anyone ever compile a list of "Woulda Been Alumni" in the Majors?

"Mayer, Howell and Harrison plan to make everything official during the NCAA's early signing period, which is Wednesday through Nov. 17. They will have two years of eligibility left to play at UL."

"Last season as a freshman, Howell went 5-2 with a 5.05 ERA in 17 appearances. He logged 37 strikeouts and 13 walks in 41 innings of work."

Howell doesn't have 3 years left?

He was a freshman in junior college last season in 2010. He will be a sophomore in junior college this upcoming season in 2011. And he will be a junior when he arrives at UL for the 2012 season.

Marshall has comparable academics, a less succesful baseball program in an inferior baseball conference, with definately inferior fan support, culinary opportunities and weather. They all made the correct decision. No crawfish in Huntington, WV.
