Thread: Louisiana's Push for Tier One status

Conflating tier1 and Carnegie 1 is very different
Tier 1 SREB = 100 phds for min 3 yrs produced from
at least min total 10 phd programs. No one phd program
    Can produce 50%.
Southern Regional Education Board is a consortium of southern states public
Universities. Auburn and Ala as exp. r tier 1 SREB institutions but possibly not Carnegie R1

Carnegie’s R1 is considered a Very High research institution
That produces a min 100 mil $ research per yr approved by the NSF
And the institution also produces at least 100 phds per yr.

    Baylor University
    Mississippi State University
    Oklahoma State University
    Rutgers University
    Texas Christian University
    University of Alabama
    Wake Forest University

I am a HUGE fan of sports, but outside of Wake Forest, I don't understand how the rest of these schools don't spend the money on academics to get to Tier 1. My lack of understanding is based upon how much money is spent on athletics. I understand that athletics is either self sufficient or close to, at most of these institutions, but the university leadership should be ashamed.

Commitment to the stadium is going to be huge in the next year to 18 months.

There’s a reason Napier stayed. There’s a reason TJoe is signing off on these big ticket items. There’s a reason Maggard didn’t bolt for UCF. There’s a reason why OLOL and LHC are cutting checks.

I fully expect to be out of the SBC in the coming months.
How close is UL to achieving Doctoral I status?

We are closer to a Big 12 invite or I49 getting completed, than we are to Doctoral 1.

Please post some factual evidence to back up your T1 claim.

We’ve been saying that we are close to Doc I status since at least 2005. So you tell me how close we are. We’ve said the same things over and over. We are always soooo close.

No. You cannot weasel out of this: I never made any such claim, because I know very little of what our status is, despite really wanting to know and having looked high and low for any clues.

You, on the other hand, made a very definite claim. So show us your evidence to back it up.

......I guess this relates to an advance to a higher tier, but does anybody know if our geauxrillas had anything to do with the covid research vax??? Did we get any bucks or recognition? Well were they even used as some rumors might speculate?

We’re still in the silent phase.
