The 16th annual UL Baseball Fall World Series came to a close Saturday afternoon as the White team clinched the series victory with a 3-2 triumph over the Red team in Game 5 at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The White team won the best-of-seven series by a 4-1 count. The end of the series marks the conclusion of the Ragin' Cajuns fall practice session.

Taylor Hubbell collected his second victory of the series for the White team. Hubbell scattered six hits and struck out eight batters in six innings of work.

In his two appearances in the 16th annual Fall World Series, Hubbell amassed 11 1/3 innings on the mound and held the Red team to 11 hits. He struck out 14 and finished with a 2.38 ERA.

Randall Bulliard retired the Red team in order in the seventh inning to collect the save.

T.J. Geith opposed Hubbell in a rematch of Game 1. Geith pitched five complete innings and held the White team to four hits.

Tyler Frederick paced White's offense with a 2-for-4 showing and two runs scored. Frederick homered in the fifth inning to give the White team a 3-1 lead.

Chris Sinclair was the top hitter for the Red team. He went 3-for-3 at the plate which included a solo home run in the sixth inning that cut Red's deficit to 3-2.

The scoring began early as each team scratched for a run in the first inning. The White team scored in the top half of the inning on a Matt Goulas RBI single. Brian Bowman homered to left field in the bottom half of the inning for the Red team to even the score at 1-all.

Michael Strentz took Geith's first pitch of the second inning over the left field wall and returned the lead to the White team.

An outfield assist from center fielder Mike Petello allowed the White team to hold on to the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs and Sinclair on second base, Ryan Leonards drove a single up the middle which Petello fielded and fired home to Strentz who applied the tag to Sinclair for the final out of the inning.

The momentum stayed with the White team as Frederick homered to left field in the top of the fifth inning for an insurance run.

Red put a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the fifth after a sacrifice bunt moved Matt Hicks to second base. Hubbell recorded strikeouts of Jordan Poirrier and Bowman to preserve the 3-1 edge.

As a result of Hubbell's strikeouts in the fifth inning, the White team maintained a lead following Sinclair's solo home run in the sixth inning.
