Strides.
All I know is UL went into the game a loser on paper, started the season over in the first quarter and came out just one snap away from overtime and victory.

The punting stat is somewhat miss leading because of the four pics in the first half now the second half is another question. And if Green makes the catch he dropped we score and at the end we could have kicked a field goal to win it. That is just my opinion for what it is worth.
I agree to a point, however, in my book, most of the 1st half interceptions WERE stops. The secondary made some really nice plays to get the picks. Sometimes, turnovers are simply bad plays on the offense. In the first half, I prefer to credit the Cajun DBs. Ohio made some adjustments at the half, which our defense (coaching?) was unable to adjust to (sounds familiar, huh?) and we were done for. The biggest reason we lost imo is that we had picked up those FOUR interceptions in the first half and could only muster a 4-point lead at halftime. It's been well documented how 2nd halves have gone for the Cajuns this year. We needed a bigger lead. JMO
Next year's staff needs to put at the top of the recruiting list, a kicker.
We need to span the globe for anybody who can kick it to the end zone consistently. We have junior high leg strength on kickoffs. Pitiful.
Next on the punch list is to properly relate the sorry, sorry state of affairs on the defensive side of the ball to the next DC.
Until those 2 issues are resolved, we could have The Ultra-Leach Turbo Injection Blitzkrieg offense, and it won't matter.
100% correct. Nothing will change until these two problems are addressed. When you look at the Cajuns the worst part of the game is the kickoffs. Every time we score we are basically giving the other team 3 points on the ensueing drive. Words cannot accurately describe how wretched this unit is.
Nothing to add on the defense. The players change, but the outcome stays the same.
Reminds me of the City Bar billboard I saw a couple weeks ago on the corner of Johnston and Jefferson. If you look hard, you can see a small line in the lower left corner, written in red on a dark background, that says "We support UL(L)". I also saw the same thing last year written on Doug Ashy's sign on Johnston St, and somewhere else that I can't recall right now. Made me think the same thing as you, Turbine.
Both should get a little better next year by default. I heard RB say on the Coach's Show last night that Fouquier is not only the DC, but also the KO team coach. It makes plenty of sense that if you have no ST Coordinator, that the DC would be the KO team coach. It also makes plenty of sense that if you can't come up with a way to stop an offense, you also won't be able to come up with a way to stop a return. All isn't on him, though...I think R-Bust still coaches the Kickers.
I thought we recruited a local kid last year that kicked every one of his HS kicks out of the endzone. Only problem is he is out for the year with a knee injury (how does a kicker injure his knee?). Does anyone know if he will be able to kick next year? It seems like EVERY position on this team has had a serious injury this year, even the kicker. I understand knee injuries are what they are, but the other injuries are questionable. Is it poor conditioning, poor training, poor ???, or just plain bad luck for an already seemingly unlucky team.
Hunter Stover (Notre Dame grad) tore his ACL during a defensive drill. Stover was struggling to find the same success on kickoffs that he had in high school prior to getting hurt.
I've been told by multiple sources that some of the muscle sprains and strains suffered by all of the student-athletes have had something to do with improper lifting technique and not enough stretching.
