Thread: Being a diehard fan can be a cruel journey

  1. Default Being a diehard fan can be a cruel journey

It was a rough week around these parts, folks. Diehard UL fans watched the Cajuns get routed by winless Western Kentucky in front of 15,000 homecoming fans at Cajun Field. Many had to wonder, is it ever going to happen? LSU fans were humbled a bit by the ...

Diehard fans get the best of both sides. When your team loses a heart breaker you feel it worse than anyone. When you reach that pinnacle (whatever it may be) you are happier than anyone. Many try to replicate the feelings... like the tons of saints bandwagon fans... but only the true fans know how good it can feel.

In a world where my 6 year old only knows how good the saints are.. he may never fully appreciate the futility that once was coined "the same old saints"...

Yes, but UL is unique from all others... we turn our undivided attention to a diehard fan or two that didn't act right. Or, we bad mouth people who take the time to sport vermillion, but heaven forbid, only go to Cajun Field to tailgate and not attend the game.

UL is the single worst marketed program in the country... because we are not men about it. I don't even want the great people that I know that might come to UL football games to ever come on board anymore. They were right. This school is very, very male feminine and does not know how to make fire be your ally. They snuff out the fan flame before it ever has a chance to generate valuable heat. But, they will... so unbelievably contrary to the meaning... put a flame on a pepper logo... put flames on a hotwheel logo for the university... and call themselves "Ragin". I've not seen too many contradictions better illustrated in my days.

When it comes to football... we ARE NOT the Ragin Cajuns.

It is tough to be a Cajun fan sometimes, especially now when they aren't so "Ragin", but luckly for some of us we have friends to get us through these times and help us enjoy the good times even more.

I have had Saints Season tics since 1967... Cajun since I graduated in 1976... so add 4 for my college years... I think that qualifies me as a die hard...

Interesting stat for me.... I sat through the Saints loss to an 0-26 Tampa Bay team... and of course the loss last Saturday to a team on a 26 game losing streak...

Any others out there share that dubious distinction?

    WOW!!

So what this means is in 32 years, the year 2042 "THE University of Louisiana" is going to win the NCAA National Football Championship in a 64 team playoff.

I may not still be here in 32 years... Might I hope for a Sun Belt Championship that results in a Nawlins Bowl???????

I would take that right now
