Just because it has not been publicly announced does not mean it has not already occurred. Have you ever thought of that? Because regardless if Bustle coaches out the season UL still owes him his salary and buyout.

I would encourage Bustle to resign first and not force me to announce that he had been fired if I were AD.

I saw that yesterday Colorado fired their coach and named an interim coach. The idea is that they wanted to start the hiring process now given that the national recruiting day is in less than 4 months and can't wait until the end of the season to start that process.

UL doesn't have to fire Bustle now. It could make an announcement that Bustle will be allowed to finish the season, but will not be retained and the process for a replacement will start immediately.

I don't know why Walker decided to retire in January causing UL to wait until he retires to start an AD search. Seems to me that needs to be started now and completed by January followed by an announcement of the immediate hiring of a football coach.

Colorado is in no different position WRT hiring a replacement than we are at this time; and they likely have a completely different list of coaches they are going after. They, just like us, have to wait to talk to prospective coaches that are currently working at other universities. Only thing they really gain is that fact that change WILL occur. I suspect our efforts "behind the scenes" are no different. Change will occur. Colorado has to compete against other BSC/AQ teams for it's next coach (i.e. Minnesota). So going public may help them in pursuit of "name" coaches currently unemployed (Leach, Leavitt, etc.) Just my 2 cents.

You say you have given a generous amount of funding to the University, but why not the RCAF? It's been around for nearly 2 years now and has been marketed very well in the area.
I know of several out of State parents who donated "while" their kids played for UL

Maybe he wanted hiring the new football coach to be his final act as AD.

The new coach will be hired before David Walker has worked his last day. That much you can bank on. The head coach will have been hired and announced hopefully long before Walker steps down. Like Cajun4Life said, the process has already begun and people have been contacted about future interests and they are compiling a list as of right now.

If you are going after a coach that is currently working, what good does it do to have a lame duck coach in here if you can't futher your search and hire someone immediately? Those schools made that decision to fire their coaches immediately but it likely did nothing more to help them land a new coach unless that coach is out of work.
