Matt Viator is a good fit at McNeese....I would be disappointed if that would be our direction...

Rod Broadway is my candidate. He should at least be considered. Defense wins games and he's a defensive guy. Our defense has been in the bottom of the conference for years. Before having heart problems this year, one of his defensive ends was projected to be a late first round pick.....from Grambling!
1.He was on the 1996 National Championship staff with Florida. He was under Bob Stoops(DC) and Steve Spurrier(HC).
2. He knows the Southern region well coming from North Carolina, Duke, Florida and Grambling. That really helps in recruiting. He has also proven himself being succesful at school with limited resources.
3. 7 years of successful head coaching experience
-2003-2006 @ North Carolina Central University
- 2007 - Present @ Grambling St.
- 2006 Eddie Rorinson Coach of the Year (Div. II)
- 2006 CIAA Coach of the Year
4. I have seen his interviews and he does not play around, he calls it like it is.
5. We can afford him and he makes the most limited resources
May not on the top of the short list, but definitely we should seriuosly consider him.
Who else would he bring? Other than mcneese his resume is all HS coaching. His staff is either filled primarily with assistants whose resumes consist mainly of experience at mcneese (players or coaches) or ULM. while his winning percentage at BBU is good his resume is not that impressive otherwise, IMO.
Brad Boyd!!!!! Oh cr@p, wrong thread...
Actually I said this last year and will stand by my decision if we have a chance at him and that is Ole Miss DC, Tyrone Nix.
Knows the area, played and coached at USM, also was a coach at South Carolina and now at Ole Miss.
Any thoughts?
If the big names (Leavitt, Leach, Mangino, Bower) won't come, I think getting a successful head coach on the FCS level would be a smart move. They know how to succeed with no money. They have proven they are competent as a head coach.
http://ucasports.com/staff.aspx?staff=9 50 yrs old. (passing guy)
http://www.georgiasoutherneagles.com...&Q_SEASON=2010 43 yrs old. (running guy) *my pick
http://sfajacks.cstv.com/sports/m-fo...rper_jc00.html 43 yrs old. (defensive guy) (has young hot shot O.C.)
If you don't want or can't get one of these guys, then you have to go to the co-ordinator route.
This is where it gets dicey. The really great ones are out of our price range. You're left with a gamble on a really young guy like Kingsbury at Houston(31 yrs old), or a really old guy(see Rickey Bustle)
Any conversation that doesn't begin and end with Jimmy McGinty, is a conversation that we don't need to be having.

I know he's kind of a jerk, but has anybody thought about Bud Kilmer?
Gimme Mangino... I always wanted a fat coach that pushed his players...
