Baseball Set for Annual Fall World Series

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns baseball team wraps up their fall practice session with the 2010 Fall World Series which begins Monday, Oct. 25 at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
The 16th annual edition of the event gets underway with a 6 p.m. first pitch for Game 1 on Monday.

The defending Sun Belt Conference champions will use a best-of-seven format for this year's series featuring the Red Team vs. White Team. The series runs through Sunday, Oct. 31.

Following Monday's contest, the series continues Tuesday, Oct. 26 with Game 2 at 6 p.m. After a day off on Wednesday, Oct. 27, the series resumes with Game 3 on Thursday, Oct. 28 and Game 4 on Friday, Oct. 29 both set for 6 p.m.

The "if necessary" games are scheduled as part of a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 30 and a single game on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m.

The senior members of the 2010-11 squad were divided amongst the two teams and serve as team captains. They held a draft after practice on Friday, Oct. 22 to fill out the remaining slots on their rosters.

The Red Team will be captained by seniors Dustin Ardoin, T.J. Geith, Lance Marvel, Ryland Parker, Jordan Poirrier, Joey Satriano and Trask Switzenberg.

The White Team will be captained by seniors Josh Bailey, Randall Bulliard, Michael Cook, Michael Faul, Greg Fontenot, Matt Goulas, Taylor Hubbell and Mike Petello.

All games in the series will last nine innings and extra innings will be played out. The seniors will make all decisions on players, pitching lineups and game strategy.
