The 65th edition of Louisiana's homecoming game will feature two teams looking to rebound from tough losses as the Ragin' Cajuns host Western Kentucky in a Sun Belt showdown this Saturday.
The Cajuns (2-4, 2-2 Sun Belt) and Hilltoppers (0-6, 0-2 Sun Belt) kickoff at 4:00 p.m. at Cajun Field on Saturday afternoon.
UL enters this weekend's contest after dropping a 31-24 decision at Troy last weekend. The Cajuns forced five Troy turnovers and led on three different occasions but were unable to hold on for the win.
The Cajuns offense welcomed the return of Mackey Award midseason watch list member Ladarius Green. The junior tight end caught four passes for 96 yards after missing the previous two games due to injury. He has now accumulated 318 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 18 receptions in 2010.
The Cajuns also enjoyed the return of all-purpose player Brad McGuire. McGuire saw his first action of the season after an injury sidelined him for the Cajuns' first five games. The junior made the most of his return as he accounted for both of UL's rushing touchdowns against the Trojans.
UL's defense saw a new face continue to shine as Le'Marcus Gibson made his second interception in as many games. The junior college transfer leads the team with two interceptions, with both occurring in the last two games. Devon Lewis-Buchanan and Orkeys Auriene also had interceptions for the Cajuns against Troy. UL has eight different players with an interception this season.
The Cajuns defense as a whole ranks second in the Sun Belt with 14 forced turnovers.
Western Kentucky enters Saturday's match-up after a heart-breaking 35-30 loss to La.-Monroe.
WKU had lost 25 consecutive games entering the contest, and seemed poised to snap that streak when they entered the fourth quarter with a 24-7 lead. However, the Warhawks scored 28 points in the fourth and pushed WKU's losing streak to 26 straight.
The Cajuns are 3-0 all-time against Western Kentucky. UL is 37-25-2 all-time in homecoming games and is averaging 34 points per game in homecoming contests under Bustle.
After their match-up with the Hilltoppers, the Cajuns take a break from Sun Belt play as they travel to Athens, Ohio to face the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday, October 30.
