He's the one this thread is about. He played for SF last year and is now with the NYJ.

I saw him blocking for Chad Pennington yesterday against the Patriots. Apparently he has played pretty well for them this year. I didn't even know that he was a Jet.

That is why only a quarterback is held accountable for wins and loses. I mean the Jets defense never ever held it together, yet the Jet qb will be tagged with the loss. AC will never have a stat called wins and loses next to his name.

Jake, Jake, Jake, Super Bowl 2008. Throws winning td to Brandon Stokley who was released by the Colts, and AC taking his spot on that fragile Panther line. Talk about a dream come true.

Very quietly, a UL football alumnus helped lead his NFL football team into the playoffs over the past weekend. But New York Jets offensive tackle Anthony Clement’s always been a very quiet, very private person.

Clement, a product of Cecilia High and a standout offensive tackle with the Cajuns from 1994-97, started all 16 games for the Jets at right tackle this season. He was signed by the Jets as an unrestricted free agent in April, nine days after his 30th birthday.

Clement didn’t get nearly the notoriety of the Jets’ other tackle, with top draft choice D’Brickashaw Ferguson stepping out of college and into the Jets’ left tackle slot, also for 16 games. But Clement probably liked it that way ... no fanfare, no hype, just doing his job.

The Jets became Clement’s third NFL team when he signed last April, following one year with the San Francisco 49ers when he started six of 14 games after signing before the third game of the year.

  7. UL Football Jets re-sign OT Clement

Hempstead, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Jets re-signed offensive tackle Anthony Clement on Monday. Per team policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Clement played in all 16 games with the Jets last season.

Clement originally signed with New York as an unrestricted free agent in April of last year. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft and spent seven seasons with the Cardinals before moving to the San Francisco 49ers in 2005.

UL Football Patriots sign Anthony Clement

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots signed free agent tackle Anthony Clement on Monday, along with a wide receiver and two of their draft picks.

The team signed linebacker Shawn Crable and quarterback Kevin O'Connell, two players drafted in the third round this year. Also getting a contract was wide receiver Chris Dunlap, who was released by the Patriots last Sept. 1 after signing as a rookie free agent out of Georgia Tech on May 14.

Clement, a 10-year veteran, started every game at right tackle for the New York Jets in each of the past two seasons. He spent his first seven seasons with Arizona and one with San Francisco. He has started 107 of the 128 games in which he played after being taken in the second round out of Louisiana-Lafayette in 1998.

Crable, selected out of Michigan with the 78th overall pick, had 148 career tackles to rank 10th on the Wolverines' career list. The 6-foot-5, 243-pound linebacker had 16 career sacks and 43 tackles for losses.

O'Connell was taken with the 94th overall pick out of San Diego State. He passed for 7,689 yards, 46 touchdowns and 34 interceptions in 40 college games.

It may seem petty, but the DA had this article on the first page of the sports section today, with the title being "Cecelia Product" and not "UL product". Oh well, I guess they could have titled it better and put it on the fourth of fifth page instead.
