I dont look at OSU people hoping he gets our job to be a red flag. It just may be that they feel he desearves to be a head coach and would make a good head coach. I like the idea that he is an alum. Time will tell but if Joe is the hire I wont be dissapointed.

Gundy's statements may be seen as hoping he gets the opportunity out of respect for DeForest's ability, time put in, hard work, etc. It's not always a negative when your boss stumps for your promotion.

Talk about a love/hate ----I will never forget what Augie told the staff--- that he wanted all of us to be Head Coaches one day---That he hired us because of whatever but thought we could be leaders----Yes you hate to loose the coordination developed over the years --but inside a HC knows that he owes it to the staff members to have them move on/up!!!!

What point are you trying to make....Bo Pelini stayed on LSU's staff through the bowl even though he had been hired at Nebraska.

UL is probably not going to get someone with HC experience unless they got it in Div 1AA, II, or III. Not saying we need to get someone directly from those divisions just they may have been a HC there then moved on to coach at the FBS level. We will not get anyone that is a present HC at an FBS school. We will get a OC or DC from a more successful program. I would rather not get someone who was a HC at an FBS school then went somewhere else to be a corrdinator. As a rule that means he was not a successful HC and either got fired or resigned because he had a losing record. I don't think Nick Saban was a HC any where before he went to Michigan State. Jimbo Fisher at Fla State I don't think had any HC experience prior to getting that job. I do hope whomever UL gets that they come from a successful program and hopefully worked some other successful programs.

Remember that Bill Parcells who pushing for Sean Payton to get the Saints Head Coaching Position when they were with Dallas. How did that turn out?
