Thread: Don't Roosta Like You Use ta

  1. Default Don't Roosta Like You Use ta

This is my first post. I like to follow the up to date news which is given here most of the time. I really hate starting my raginpagin's 1st post like this, but I have to do it in order to save humiliation!

Let me say first and foremost. I am a HUGE CAJUN FAN! I do not miss games (Football, Basketball, Baseball) and I am a member of the RCAF. I am a graduate of UL and will support this school until the day I die.

Please tell me that the news I am hearing this morning isn't true!?!? According to numerous sources, Jay Walker stated on his show that ESPN will televise the "Rooster Dance" which is done by the Krewe de Chewe.....

I hope to God this isn't true! With all due respect, this would be a devistation to our team, the fans and our tailgating atmosphere viewed by the nation. For those of you not familar with this dance, it's done about 15 times a game and people from this Krewe dress in rooster costumes a peck around like they're eating corn and kicking dirt while flapping their wings. This is only humerous and entertaining to the people directly under the tent. The rest of the tailgaters awe in disbelief that this so called ritual now has an itinerary on what times it will be done and has a bell to start the festivities..... Look, I understand this is all in fun, but really??? Do it once a year for homecoming. Do it once a game, some may still not be able to tolerate it....but PLEASE DON'T DO THIS ON ESPN!!!!!!!!!! We will be the laughing stock of college football. Can we vote for ESPN to show the cutting of the Boudin, the Cajun walk, the general tailgaing atmosphere, the live band....anything but the Rooster! I tailgate close to the Rooster Tent and I speak for about 100 fellow tailgaters when I say this non sense has got to stop. The 1st corn eating, dirt kicking mating dance was ok, but now there are costumes, make up, bells, schedules............draw the line and come back to normality.

Comments are now able to be heard.............................

    Prediction for Friday:

    Louisiana's Pecking Corn Eating Rooster's 31
    Oklahoma State Cowgirls 30

    Attendance: 17,500

ESPN 2 may lose it's college football rights after this debacle.

    WITH ALL DUE RESPECT!

HAHA! This is a funny post. No way ESPN 2 will put this on the air. I've seen this dance done. I know it's terrible, but that's how the old folks get down at the Krewe. Not really entertaining at all and ESPN will thinks it's ridiculous. They may incorporate it into the "C-Mon Man" segment for Monday Night Football.

Coach Bustle does remind me of that coach from Waterboy though. I can see him telling our recruits. "The only thing better than four crawfish dinners is five crawfish dinners".....

We are already referred to as UL Laf (You'll Laugh) as out of towners like to say. I 2nd the NO ROOSTER. Now if the game was on the history channel or PBS....go for it Krewe

Saying that doing the dance on air would be a "devastation to the team" is a bit strong, don't you think?

Forget the rooster dance, bring back the Cajun Chicken! (unless that would make us look ridiculous too)

Be careful man, you might get your post deleted for expressing displeasure. That apparently goes on here.

wahhhhh, this is the worst crying I've ever heard on this board. It's worse than the name game and Monroe/LA Tech crowd

Please, no Cajun Chicken. It has NO tie-in with the university. If you like the antics of the Cajun Chicken, have that same person do the same things but with as a UL mascot like the Bull Gator or Catahoula.

The secret to the Chickens success (besides the person inside) is the beak.

Everytime the head moves there is major action.

Nah, I don't think it's crying. I think it's taking a valid point and stating that the rooster is hilarious and SHOULD NOT be placed on the television market.

I think we spotted a rooster dancer? Save it for Halloween pal, then you'll look normal.

Can you honestly disagree with the original post? Do you think this is something that the Cajuns (School, Players, Alum, etc) want shown to the world? A buncha fightin roostas! We should have promoted a gumbo/chili cook-off....the weather will definitely be nice.

    Geaux Cajuns!

    Isn't Stanford's mascot a Tree??
I dont even know what the hell WKU's mascot is...the blob??
How is a blue horse related to the Blue Raiders?
I can continue this list forever but there are countless mascots with no real tie in with their universities.

HOLY CRAP! I'm going to DVR this circus show and submit to America's Funniest Home Videos!! I will not be anywhere near the cameras for this horse and pony episode.

You people need to stop kidding yourselves if you think this would be a good thing to put on nat'l tv. We are setting ourselves up for humiliation. Someone referenced Halloween. I don't even think it's ok to do this for Halloween. Dressing up, playing like you're a rooster...WOW! How does this Rooster even affiliate with the program. Ragin Cajuns, Bulldogs, Cajun Chicken??

I would rather them do a special, maybe even an hour long documentary with Chris the Cotton Candy guy and have him give a 10 point instruction on making candy apples.

Stop looking through those rooster colored glasses and see that this is not funny nor entertaining and ESPN should not have to waste air time on this non sense!

You don't need to DVR it as it is already on YouTube! And I concur, please do not put this on national television! I realize they are having fun with it; but really.
