_ Through 4 weeks, the Sunbelt Conference is 4-17 in out of conference games. Two of the four wins were against FCS opponents, and that includes ULM's 1 point win, at home, over SLU last night. My point is this, I don't think we'd ever be able to lure the Offensive Coordinator from Boise State, or any other prominent program, to become our Head Coach. From what we've seen so far this year, the SBC is a place where "has been" coaches come to finish off their careers. It is not a place where up and coming coaches come to try to prove themselves worthy of a job at the next level. I fear that even with more money, the job of Head Coach at UL, or any other SBC school, may be a hard sell to the kind candidate we covet. _

When it's time for us to pursue a coach, we go all out and get the best that we can get for whatever we can afford to pay. We can't worry about what the perceived view is because we really don't know what that may be to an individual that wants to be a head coach. I'm sure there are plenty of good coaches that would want to run their own program as long as there is the proper support from the adminstration.

I think that would be the ticket to get us on the map. We need to find a young, energetic coach that is looking to make a name for his self and would instill a more competitive energy into the program. This would bring more interest into our program as well as the Sun-Belt conference.

Maybe he can explain to us how a former CBS 120 bottom-dweller got to be #3 in the nation, and how they manage to recruit some of the best talent in the country to play football on a blue field in Idaho before 30,000 fans without a sniff from the NCAA police. We need a blueprint from Boise or S Florida or somewhere.

Tell Coach Marlin that. I know its bball but he is regarded as one of the best up and coming coaches in the country and he's in the sun belt. Why can't the same be done in football?

Believe it or not there are young coaches out there that want to turn programs around. Some coaches like a challenge. And why not us? We have the second best facilities in the state and the best in the conference. With renovations on the stadium planned.
