I think we might have had the kind of game we expected if that hadn't happened. It was the turning point in the game.

We beat ASU in my opinion because we got the jump on them and held on in the end.

What I'm not sure of after watching UL football for close to 40 years is if we are capable of anything beyond the 5-7 win season on average. I have seen Russ Faulkinberry, Augie Tammariello, Sam Robertson, and Nelson Stokley get us pointed in the right direction and then level off when it appeared that we are on the cusp of taking the program to the next level.

It just might be that we have to take the private funding to another level before we can expect to do better on a consistent basis. I don't think it's an accident that no UL head football coach in over 100 years has ever been a head coach again after leaving. If the funding is not improved and we fire the coach I think we'll repeat the same tired old pattern: a grace period, followed by improvement, then a leveling off.

I want us to be disappointed when we lose an important game, but I also want us to be realistic so that we'll do what's needed to get better. It doesn't make sense to replace a $200,000 coach with a $600,000 coach and find ourselves back where we started in a few years.

    This is true.

But IMO private funding can't get us there. We need student athletic fees in addition. I don't think UL can ever be serious in athletics without them.

we need a new athletic director who wants to better the college athletically instead of just being content with the current circumstances IMO

I think that's bull. You don't think David Walker wants us to be better? It's infinitely more complicated than "thinking big". If it were that easy me and you would be great AD's.

I am not going political here. However, I finally do understand that Obama supporter. The Lady who called him out. She was tired of defending him, when all he did was fail. I'm feeling that way right now with this program. I love UL, but, I'm tired of defending them. Something needs to happen!

    David Walker blame is misplaced.

All we did during the Authement/Schexnayder regime was _____ about administration. Guess what we have a new administration.

    D. Walker has:
    1. Started the RCAF
    2. Hired Bob Marlin
    3. Put our Basketball coaches/ Asst. Coaches salary among the highest in te Sunbelt
4 Put field turf in football/baseball stadiums
    5. Built a new softball stadium
    6. Done more renovations in his tenure than the other regime in 30 years.

I know some of u think that Gerald Hebert or Scott Farmer hung the moon, and they do a good job. But Walker and T Joe are driving this boat. I had an opportunity to talk to Marlin after he was hired, he raved about Mr Walker for ten minutes easily.

David Walker is a fine AD however his weakness is his inability to make a positive coaching move while a contract exists AND his willingness to grant unwarranted contract extensions.

Getting blown out at Home is a pretty good indication that we need a new direction. It was pathetic, and I'm tired of it.

I agree.....Why was Bustle given an extension last season? Where else was he going to go? He is just happy to be able to keep his job here. We should have held off on the extension, less to spend on buyout.

I am sure David Walker has a plan. Remember how he handled Coach Lee. He will let the season run it's course and then make his move based on the complete picture..
