Its the fact that it was extended to this year is BS. He proved nothing to deserve it.
I waited until today to post on here. I was hoping my disappointment and anger would subside, but I'm still left feeling frustrated. My spouse and I discussed it and could find no bright spot to our performance last night. Our defense, offense, and special teams were sub standard. We have never been strong fans of Ricky Bustle, but have attended and supported faithfully. Enough is enough!
To Whom it may Concern:
Until this current administration determines a new football coaching staff is necessary, we will officially no longer support UL. We will let our RCAF all conference membership and alumni membership lapse. We will not renew our 5 season tickets. Don't count on us to drive in from Baton Rouge and spend our money, eating out, purchasing UL gear, or going to local attractions.
We see this as taking a stand for student-athletes and not allowing losing or simple mediocre. We want our investment to be used wisely. If that's not going to happen, then we would rather take our money and put it else where. Let's Hustle, No Bustle.
I, too, am frustrated. You have your right to feel the way you do. But, if I can take an exception to your post. Your donation to the RCAF certainly supports, and to a large degree, the program for which is underperforming. However, Marlin, Lotief's, Robichaux, Rogers, Mazeitis, Wieland, Sliman and Mahfouz all benefit from the money.
I realize that by this withdrawal of the support for the football program is a way of expressing displeasure. You may want to rethink the implications.
Thanks for your support.
I understand your frustration. But also note the other posts which correctly points out the damage the withholding of funds does to other sports. Also, posting here while cathartic does not bring the subject to the attention of those that need to see it. I suggest you send it to Scott Farmer, David Walker, Dr. Savoie and John Bordelon (RCAF). those are the people that need to see it and be made aware of your displeasure and the consequences to them.
Another thought. We never seem to have any depth. Even when things are going well in football, it is often sabotaged by injuries. The offense was dead in the water after Green and Streeter left the game. I used to think this was just life as a Sunbelt team, but MT and Troy don't seem to have this problem anymore. MT had its fair share of injuries last night and blew the Cajuns out anyway.
Also, the gentleman who threatens to withdraw his support if a change is not made does not know that one will not occur if poor performances continue. There are 9 games left. No change will occur until the season ends. His RCAF membership renewal won't be due until next spring. He can make his decision after the season ends and how the administration reacts to it.
We should have made a coaching change AFTER the McNeese loss a couple of years ago. Now, I'm wondering which of our Asst. Coaches would be capable of being an interim head coach for the rest of the year if UL released Bustle now? Why do it? UL needs to do something to show its fans and alumni that we are serious about winning. We are starting to lose people and support, although I'm not sure I would call 15,000 and 17,000 at 2 home games much support. Attendance will continue to drop and donations to RCAF will plummet. Some kind of message needs to be made. Doing nothing may no longer be an option. Another year of this might decimate our program or at least kill any momentum we might have gained since the start of the RCAF.
