A few friends of mine are big followers of LA basketball, and they say we made a really good hire here.

Coach Johnson is a South Louisiana guy who has been a Division 1 head coach. Strong addition. Should help anchor our recruiting efforts in South Louisiana according to friends.

Coach Marlin has assembled quite a coaching staff, even after losing coach Rich.

Coach Nikita Johnson and Kevin Johnson are both strong recruiters. Coach Hardin is known for doing a little bit of everything (workouts, scheduling, recruiting), especially leading individual workouts. All three have coached for successful programs that made the postseason. All three have extensive college coaching experience. That should eventually pay dividends for the program.

Rumor had been Kevin Johnson and JP confirmed today in his blog with comments from AD David Walker he is the choice.

Coach Rich will remain in Lafayette until coach Johnson is able to make it here. Could be here by next week.

An update: Coach Johnson did not reply to my voicemail left Monday. Coach Lee did respond to my text late Monday but said he could not comment at this time.

Nothing to be concerned about as far as I can tell. As much as I'd like to talk with coach Johnson and coach Lee about the situation, they're both smart for staying quiet until everything is official.

I've been told by a source in Monroe that coach Johnson has already left ULM.
