More than a dozen people are recovering after an Amtrak train slammed into a big rig in Crowley.
The crash happened just after 10AM Friday morning on American Legion Drive in Crowley.
Two passengers, Louis Darby and Vicki Higgins recall the crash:
"All of a sudden, we heard a big boom," Darby said.
"It jerked our necks back," said Higgins.
"When we heard the boom, everybody looked outside." Darby says, "(the train) split an eighteen-wheeler in half."

96 people were on board. 17 of them, including six Amtrak employees were taken to the hospital.
Maxine Trahan of the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office says, "there are no life-threatening injuries."
Acadia Parish Deputies are now investigating the crash.
A statement they took from the truck driver says, "I stopped, looked both ways then decided to cross."
aAdecision that could've been deadly but on this day, the trip will continue.
"(I am) hoping everybody will be ok." Darby says, "and I can make it home and everybody else can too."

The Amtrak train was going to New Orleans when the crash happened- stalling passengers for hours.
Amtrak officials say the train was unfit to continue its route and some passengers were picked-up by buses to be taken more than 150-miles to the Amtrak station in New Orleans.
Amtrak says there was no indication of train malfunction and the crash was caused by driver error.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office would not confirm a cause of the crash and says its still under investigation.
