LOUISIANA La.— St. Thomas More Lady Cougars track and field standout Jamie Blue knew all along that she wanted to run for Louisiana's Ragin’ Cajuns.

Not only because of her dad Stewart Blue, who is a member of the Ragin Cajuns ‘S’ Club for his efforts for the track team in 1965-1969 as a quarter-miler, but also because of former track and field coach Charles Lancon.

On Monday, Jamie officially got her opportunity to run for the Cajuns after she signed a national letter of intent to extend her track career at UL Lafayette.

“I always wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps,” Jamie said. “I love track and I just want to run like my dad. I want to be as successful as he was.”

Along with walking in her father’s path, another reason Jamie wanted to run for the Ragin Cajuns was because of Lancon.

“Coach Lancon always said that I would be a good runner and that he hoped I would one day run for him,” Jamie said. “I was excited when he told me that and I am really excited I will get the chance to do so.”

In four years with the Lady Cougars, Jamie helped lead them to three District 5-4A and two regional championships.
