Thread: I don't see why the Lady Cajuns should up their schedule

  1. UL Softball I don't see why the Lady Cajuns should up their schedule

Just looking at some the teams seeded higher than Louisiana . . . I don't see how those teams overall losing records vs. ranked teams tells you anything more -or should be rewarded any more- than UL going 49-2 against teams not in the tournament.

Baylor won almost 50 games last year and did not get invited; I do not know how they faired versus ranked competition. This year Baylor is a third seed with forty-six wins, again I do not know if they upgraded their schedule to get in.

They have to come up with a tougher schedule, the committee said so last year. This year they paid dearly, and if NS and RA don't come up with some schedule bucks the committee might not even invite them next year.

When holding Louisiana down last years Lady Cajuns -with a 4 seed- the committee explained the reason being was schedule strength, or lack thereof.

Looking at the records and seeding of other teams in this year’s tournament, I interpret last year advice as saying we can't tell if you are a really good team unless you lose to better teams. Evidently losing to better teams is irrelevant as long as you play them.

Well after the Lady Cajuns ran through the regional last year and ended up being one of the best 8 teams in the country the committee's logic and recommendation look like folly. Schedule didn't say a thing about the Lady Cajuns not being good or not deserving a higher seed.

This year the only way to undo the folly of their recommendation was to punish and place Louisiana in a juggernaut regional. And when the Cajuns lose the committee hopes to be able to say see they weren't any good.

I say keep the current schedule get 50+ wins every year. Get in as an eighth seed if that is what it takes. Beat the number one seed in your first game and continue to advance to the World Series year in and year out.
