Thread: Another Cajun Win

  1. #1

    Default Another Cajun Win

Cajun Volleyball has moved to 7-1 (remember this team only won 9 games all of last year) with a 3-0 win over SLU. (25-20, 25-11 and 25-20).

Competition gets much tougher as they play in the Magnolia Classic vs USM, Ole Miss and Samford.

We had several posts a while back when several players quit the team. Were some of them part of the problem...or is it just a coincidence?

It seems like only a handful truly know but it seems pretty interesting to me how much more improved this team is after the defections.

I stated this in a previous thread, but applies here as well......

I will say this, we have not played top level competition, but that being said, these are games that in the past couple of years we have lost and lost badly, so something is working right. The overall record of the teams we have played is 27-31, and that is including an 8-0 record for Eastern Michigan. So the teams we have beaten have a combined record of 19-31, but a win is a win is a win, right? We have not played a BCS conference team yet and our wins have been against the SWAC (2), the Southland (3), the MAAC and the Great West, not exactly the powerhouses of NCAA Volleyball, just playing devils advocate here.

Now this weekend we get a team from the CUSA (Southern Miss), the SEC (Ole Miss) and the Southern Conference (Samford). I think we will get a better indication of how far we have actually come, but this is a fact that can not be refuted:

    2002--15 wins
    2003--6 wins
    2004--7 wins
    2005--5 wins
    2006--8 wins
    2007--4 wins
    2008--8 wins
    2009--9 wins

Already in 2010 we have 7 wins, meaning that if the season ended today, we would have the 5th best record in the last 9 years, if we win 2 more games in the next 24 plus the conference tournament, we will have the second best record in the last 9 years, I am confident that will happen.

As far as the players go, we can not control who left, but we can definitely be proud of the ladies that are here. And they are doing a great job, so far. Keep up the great work......
