We need to open it up, bigtime. Bustle should search far and wide for the Cajun playbook, circa. 2003-2004, A.S.A.P. _
Maybe he needs to call Lewis Cook and ask him how to run a successful offense.

I was at the game on Saturday and it was quite embarrassing, but also expected. What I didn't expect to see was so many dropped passes by the WRs and the gimme dropped pik and missed QB tackle by Kelly. Additionally, the coaching / game plan was absent. After a tremendous kick return to open the game, which surprised the hell out of me and also the Georgia fans, we should have kept the pressure on and took a shot down field, but no, they slow the game down immediately with a running play.

I'll wait until we play someone of our caliber before I make a judgment on the rest of the season, but too much of the above against anyone, and you don't have much to look forward to for the rest of 2010.

However, I sure hope coach Bustle sees that this offense is not fitting the personnel. The spread option offense is fine and I think we should run a version of it for sure. However, the zone read is not what these players do well IMO. I just posted in another thread about Tulsa's offense and they are as dynamic as they come. In a way, I think you could compare the strengths of the Cajuns to what Tulsa does and that is involve their skill people and get them in space. They run variable sets and seem to always have someone in motion prior to the snap. They also allow their RB's to get to the outside and make plays instead of running behind a jelly butted guard who is getting pancaked by the defense's starting SS. _
I watched the Tulsa-ECU game and we don't have their talent. We are lucky if we have the talent to compete in the Southland Conference. McNeese, Southeastern and the others in that conference are more on our level than we are competing against Div. I teams.

Are you saying that Cook did not run a better and more successful offense when he was here than what Bustle runs? I'm not saying Cook should be the coach. I was being sarcastic and expressing my frustration.

Whew, for a minute there I thought you read my post correctly. I never said we were as talented as they are. However, I did try to explain how they use their talent and that we could take a page out of how they operate. I also believe that you are superpessimistic about the athletes we have in this program. They did not do much to solidify my argument this weekend but I also think they were sitting behind the 8 ball due to our poor coaching philosophy. Bottom line is that they know how to run the spread and get the ball into the hands of their playmakers. We have not shown this.

Nice. I'm an Acadiana alum, so I would second that nomination.

Remember, this is the same coach who - among dozens of other idiotic coaching moves last season --against LSU tried to slug it in on 4 plays off center/tackle against a line that outweighed us by 1000 lbs collectively. oh, and then the last 6 minutes of the game "drive" that he orchestrated so perfectly.

I agree. I believe that we have more than enough talent to be as successful as Troy or the North Texas teams of the early Belt. We just don't have the right Coaches at this point.
