A pedestrian is struck by a vehicle in Duson.
It happened around 8:30 in the 200-block of 4th street. The victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance and is said to have critical injuries.
Neighbors we spoke to say this is an incident they've feared for a while. Kyle Herring says, "I've got two kids and it's just a bad deal around here. Nobody patrols around here, it's a constant speeding going up and down. You can't find a cop in Duson, so my personal belief, I think we need to get more intervention from the Sheriff's Department. As far as I'm concerned this police department is a joke."
Chief Frank Andrew with the Duson Police Department tells KATC that "Duson police will try to come to a resolution where we can try to reduce any traffic and pedestrian incidents. We are going to gather information from the scene, and see what we can do to make the streets safer."
The accident is still under investigation, but keep it tuned to KATC and katc.com for the very latest on this story.
