If I had a freshman QB, in the opening game, against an opponent ranked as we are, I'd run the ball at us over and over until we proved we can stop it. That is not going to be a surprise to the UL defense and our defense may be up to the test.

I have no doubt that GA's OL is talented. But, people have to stop thinking that they are bigger than OLs we face in the SBC. They are not. The difference is their footwork for the weight they maintain. Be very sure... they are good. That is it.

The key is that when our offense takes the field, we sustain some drives and give our defense some rest. It is not how "powerful" GA's OL is. Keeping our defense fresh is about our offense not having 3 and outs.

You are right. I believe their offense will have as much of a learning curve to start this game as ours will. I believe the D will play well early on. However, my fears have come abound this week with the loss of Brad M. Not because he would be a starter but because he provides us with certain depth and leadership that will be missed. I believe that the coaching staff will look at Gautier still possibly being limited with the broken finger and go ultra conservative on offense, especially early on along with not having any film on their defense. To me, this spells much trouble. A team like us must take some chances and not hold anything back in order to beat a team like UGA. I think we will run the zone read except I don't think Masson will be looking to run much if at all which spells trouble in keeping the defense honest. Also, I think we will unveil the zone-screen offense that we saw this fall which we ran a lot last year and guys like Marlin Miller only averaged 9 yards per catch. That won't do it either. I sure hope Bustle and staff realize that we are here to win and compete and not hear to hide our cards because we think that ASU will be watching.

Agree. We have to play to win every game, and that includes this one. Coaches are going to tell Chris and Blaine to avoid the big hit, but they have to play our offense and exploit the GA defense to the best of their abilities with some QB runs. There is no way we are going to move the ball offensively without our best ground and aerial attack. It matters not which one we think we should "establish" first. They both will have to be established. We need to use all of our weapons, try to win the game, and gain some confidence no matter what. If we go conservative and protective... we will not only lose this game outright and badly... we will lose another winnable game down the road because of not playing to win.

Bigtime BS to anyone who thinks you hide your babies from a game like this. Injuries happen in this sport and there is no correlation whatsoever to who the opponent is. Play every game to win and let the chips fall where they may. I'm sure when Applachian State played Michigan they had an injured player they would have liked to have had healthy... I seriously doubt they played that game like someone who just wanted the check. If we show we have nuts when we play GA, we will gain a superstar recruit from our area this coming year. If we play like whimps, he will not go to UL. You can bank on it.

That has always been one of my main gripes about our coaching staff in the past years is we tend to play these "money games" like we actually have something to lose. I say open the play book and use this to see what works and throw the kitchen sink at them...after all what do we have to lose?

As much as i would love to see it i don't think we have much of chance at all to win here , but a nice solid all around effort would be very nice to see and a huge positive and confidence boost to the squad. If we could put together a few nice offensive drives and make a few stops or a couple big plays on defense i think would go a long way too getting the team headed in the right direction for the rest of the season.
